Munich Spring Fest

April 28, 2010

Munich spring fest

Also known as the Frühlingsfest “fills Munich’s Theresienwiese with over 100 fairground rides, beer tents and live music for more than two weeks of enjoyment. Ride on the roller coasters and merry-go-rounds, or munch on all manner of sticky sweets.” That’s pretty much all one can say. BUT there’s also the grand flea market, one day only. Now that was a once-in-a-year treasure hunt!

I must say I’m quite an impulsive shopper but this market proved I’m being completely Germanised and turned into a practical bore shopper. I had a list and everything I bought fitted to it. Success – I have a new Fossil watch and a Bavarian neck scarf!

Here are  some pictures of the most organised stands:

Good catch

Good buy

There are also variable rides, food stalls and beer tents. I found a good review on this year’s Spring fest here. I’d rather not repeat the information from that website, but show you some more of my pictures instead:
